Default QUICK....rear brake question....NEED HELP A.S.O.P.

I have a 2004 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 SR5 V6 with the 11" brakes on the rear. On the driver side, when you take the drum off, there is a (I'm guessing) self adjusting lever on the brake shoe on the right. It rides on a pin that is driven into the brake shoe and a piece of the lever goes through a square type hole in the brake shoe.

WELL! The new brake shoes (DURALAST) came with that pin, but it is smaller than the hole it goes in, so it fits in the hole but it is loose. Does it matter if it is loose.

Has anyone used rear brake shoes from AUTOZONE, Duralast brand, on their 2004 Tacomas.

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO. This is my daily driver, and I can't get the rear back together without doing somthing with this pin.....

Anyone else had this problem? Got a fix for me.....

Tell me what I need, or need to do.

Clark (SupermanWV)

Thread moved to Technical Assistance Forums: Brakes.

Hopefully you can get MEVang's attention. He's our resident brake guru. In the meantime, I recommend you read the sticky regarding Drum Brakes. See if it helps your situation.

Thanks for moving my post....but my brakes are for a TACOMA.

The STICY on drum brakes is for a TUNDRA....which is totally different than my TACOMA.

So hopefully someone will chime in with some info for my TACOMA.

Thanks again.

That pin should be tight in the shoe as in the originals. Take those shoes back and get some from NAPA.
