Sequoia brake problem VSC off and VSC track lights
I have a 2006 Sequoia with 61,000 miles on it, starting a few weeks ago I would occasionally get the dreaded VSC Off, VSC Track and Brake light trifecta. It has become more frequent so I took it to the dealer yesterday.
They pulled 3 codes relating to the brakes.
C0215 Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Signal
C1223 ABS Control System Malfunction
C1360 VSC Master Pressure Sensor
The tech put an ohm meter on the left rear sensor and while it is not "dead" it did measure out of spec. (1.4 Kohms while spec is 1.8 to2.2 Kohms).
The only recommendation they made was to replace the speed sensor.I didn't have them replace the wheel speed sensor because I figured I can do it cheaper.
AND
I don't think this is the real/only problem for a couple of reasons.
1) when it is "Acting up" I can make the lights come on at a stop by pressing the pedal hard, (so all of the speed sensors would be reporting zero)
2) I don't think the pedal has the right feel to it. If I haven't been pumping my brakes I can push the pedal down to where I can feel (what feels like) a mechanical stop. It is not the progressive firming I would expect.
I have never felt like the brakes are not working, but I have felt like they weren't working as good as they could.
Thoughts?
thanks!
