Couple of questions?
I purchased my truck used about 2 years ago. The truck was owned by a single owner and very well cared for. In fact the owner was in the finance department of the local dealership. When I purchased it he worked for chevy not toyota. He disclosed as much info as I asked. He had told me that he had just had the brakes done at meineke or something similar. So about a month into ownership I noticed that the brakes did not stop very well compared to my fathers 01. I havent thought about it much because they work, just not lockem up strong. I have recently been feeling an intermittent shake at various speeds. I could not get it to repeat all of the time so I figured it was just the crappy roads I was used to driving on. Well I now realize that the truck has the old style calipers and I presume that means it has not had the TSB. So I am now going to sort this out. I have a shop and lift to work in to change this out but here are my questions.
1. Why in the hell wouldnt someone working at a dealership have gotten the TSB done under warranty?
2. When the TSB came out were they still installing the winged calipers or was it switched to the newer style right away?
3. Do the front bearings have a lifespan? My truck just rolled over 100000 miles and if the front bearings are something that will give out I might just get the whole thing done at the dealership.
Also I have a rattle in the front ends that I thought was sway bar end links so I changed them all out but my rattle is still there. I have yanked and pulled on everything I can in the front but I cant find the rattle. Any ideas on that?
Thanks for the help.
Zach
