Default New Pads Squeking?

Ok guys, I had my rotors turned and installed new brake pads. Big difference, but I have a small squek from the pads. I put the gel on the outside of the shims, but I didn't take the shims off and put any under it.

Where all should I coat the pads? On the shim, and behind the shim?

Also, on some sites it looks like the upper and lower parts of the caliper need to have a slight coat along with the pins.

Also, I have the vibration damper spring on mine, but not the pin spring like shown in the book. Do some models not have these? My pins are help in place by little clips.

The brakes squek very quietly when going down the road, but as soon as the brakes are applied, it goes away.

Thanks for any and all tips guys!
