    Default Raybestos calipers

on amazon the fully loaded RC11549 and RC 11550 calipers seem a way better deal that getting the semi-loaded ones and then the Toyota pads and shims. Any comments and advice on the pads that come with the loaded Raybestos calipers? Would I still need the Toyota shims for the Raybestos calipers? Or do they come with shims already that are OK?

The rest of the info for the brake upgrade is very helpful. My first time on the forum - been looking around - really helpful.

I bought the loaded Raybestos calipers. No shims came with them. I ordered the shim kit, brake lines and mounting bolts separately. The plan is to upgrade this weekend. Will advise on the how the pads after install.

First time for me also. This Forum is really great and I would have never attempted this upgrade without the information provided.

Upgrade complete, with the write up it went very smooth. My Raybestos calipers came with anti-rattle springs for all 4 pins. That was really the only difference from the instructions. The pads provided are fine in my opinion. Needed a cheater bar to get some of the nuts and bolts loose, I did not use any PB Blaster. Thanks TS for this outstanding how to. I'm really pleased. 2000 Toyota Tundra Limited 4WD. 118K miles.

Note that many aftermarket brake pad makers are getting away from "shim kits". The manufacturing process builds up a thicker backing material that is supposed to eliminate the need for the anti-squeal shims. My Akebono ProACT pads do not require them.
