i want to upgrade my brakes because i tow pretty often... i was interested in the stoptech or trd big brake kit but just recently lifted my truck and put 16" classic II's on it and am not willing to buy new 17" wheels ands tires. so the alternative is new higher performance rotors and pads. so do i get cross drilled or slotted? and who makes good pads for tundras?
also what is included in the trd rear drum upgrade? they sure dont tell you much.
-Stock discs cryo-treated by a local cryo shop. Wheeler's drilled or drilled & slotted cryo-treated discs if you like that look.
-Porterfield pads from Wheeler.
TRD has drum upgrades?
For towing, you need trailer brakes if your loaded trailer weighs over 1000#. If you have electric trailer brakes and they don't work the way you want, buy a better brake controller. I tow a 5500# trailer, use a Jordan controller, and feel no need for upgrading my truck brakes. www.jordanbrake.com

Might be easier and cheaper to put electric (or surge) brakes on the trailer that doesn't have them...certainly likely to be more effective. Replacement axles with brakes are available for boat trailers; they may be for a utility trailer as well.
The Jordan electric trailer controller is one of those rare products that works as advertised. I use the same foot pressure on my brake pedal for the same braking effort whether I'm towing or driving without a trailer. The braking is smooth and proportional both increasing the braking effort and easing off the pedal. No adjustments are needed while towing.

Physically mount the unit as shown, connect #12 positive wire through a 20 amp self-resetting circuit breaker, connect a #12 negative wire, connect the blue brake output wire to the #2 pin on the trailer 7-pin connector.
The unit has full instructions. If you call Jordan Research for info, usually Jordan Pokrinchak himself answers the telephone.

KLS:
Does the Jordan controller allow the driver to apply trailer brakes only? I'm looking to buy a boat trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes, need info on the pro's and con's of the various controllers and actuators. tia

To be sure that it will meet your needs, you can call Jordan Research (and you'll probably speak with Jordan Pokrinchak himself). http://www.jordanbrake.com/
