Default Truck bounces when i brake...

Well, i know this topic has been posted to death, and thats why i'm postin a new thread. I looked up the Brake TSB threads and theres like a gazillion pages of info/experiences.

I understand that the TSB covers brake "vibration". I need to know what that feels like.
Is it a jerking of the steering wheel back and forth?
Or is it an overall shimmy of the vehicle?
Or is it kind of a bouncing motion when you apply the brakes?

Recently my truck started bouncing up and down a little bit when i apply the brakes.
Do i need to get the TSB done? Do i need to do it before the warranty runs out?
Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. Please don't direct me to read all those threads...PLEASE!

Do have it done before your warranty is gone.

My truck does the same thing. I have the vibration, not so much in the steering wheel as it is just the whole truck. at speeds of maybe 20 it is sometimes really bad where im almost certain the people behind me can see the truck bouncing.

I'll be replacing my pads and rotors as soon as my current pads wear down.

I had the same bounce on my '02.
I printed up the new TSB concerning rear brake vibration and took it into my dealer.
I now have new rear drums and shoes - no more bounce.

The original brake TSB was done when I purchased the truck and an updated brake TSB was done soon after that.

The bounce is definetly rear drum warpage. I never did get mine fixed with the factory junk. I had every TSB know to Tundra done with no lasting fix. I went with Wheeler's rear brake drums and Porterfield carbon/kevlar brake shoes and have had no problems since. I would let Toyota pay for it untill the warranty runs out though.

Thanks...i'll look into takin it to the dealer soon. Heh, warranty runs out in may.
I'll also do the E-Brake check. I didn't think it would be the rears...i thought it would be the fronts.
It seems worse at highway speeds...50-80 mph, but i notice it too sometimes at lower speeds like 40 and below. thanks for the responses.

I did torque the lug nuts about a week ago, hopefully it helped. Some of the nuts were on there beyond 83 ft. lb. because the torque wratchet would click when i went to take some of the nuts off.
I hav'nt taken it to the dealer yet, maybe i'll mention the brakes when i take it in to check for the recalled ball joints. It only bounces sometimes. Other times it will be pretty smooth when i brake...its weird.

You could have the dreaded rear drum warpage which is related to bent rear axles in some Tundra's, but most all I have heard of were in 2000 year trucks. I got rid of the OEM junk on my rear brakes and have not had anymore problems with the bouncing rear end .
