Here is an interesting one for you break guru's...
So i had snapped a CV axle in my 04 Tundra...Well since i replaced the cv axle and hooked everything up about 2 weeks ago i have been having a problem with the ABS System kicking on for no "known" reason...
Symptoms:
(1) ABS Kicks on when the wheel is turned all the way to one side.
(2) Only does it when below 2mph coming to a complete stop.
(3) I can feel a *slight* grind feeling coming through the break pedal
(4) I pulled off the ABS Sensor on the passenger side and have cleaned it off three times now and found small metal chips stuck to the magnet end of it.
Resolution:
??? Was hoping someone might have an idea
I will update this with whatever info you guys might think of but i am not figuring out much myself...and if the problem is solved i will def post up what it is.

easy...one of your abs sensors is not pluged in all the way or is not seated in the hole....pull them out clean them off and reinsert the sensors. bet that it works just fine.

is the wire to the sensor pinched or knicked anywhere? how about the center nut....did you torque it or use an impact on it?....is the sensor misaligned, or not seated all the way? is that wheel locking up on a hard deceleration?

I checked the wires yesterday to look for the same no Kincks or pinches in it. The center nut for the axle? I torked both sides with an impact. The sensor i was told if misaligned would cause it but i have re-mounted it 4 times total now with the same problem i think at least one time it would of been right heh.

Re: Here is an interesting one for you break guru's...
You say you replaced the axle. Was this a new axle or a rebuilt? As I understand the reluctor wheel is on the outer joint. I suggest you take a close look at this.
Here are some possible problem: Rebuilt axles: Reluctor ring, could be damaged, cracked, damaged or missing teeth, ring not in proper position or on crooked. Possible wrong ring, different number of teeth.Spacing diferent. New axle: Wrong number of teeth, teeth width or spacing wrong. Ring in wrong position.
I suggest you compare the new axle to the opposite side if you don't have the old one.
If this is all good then check the sensor with an ohm meter. You can check the other side against this side to find out what it should read. Wandering resistance is a sure sign of a bad sensor.
Hope this helps
Mike

Re: Here is an interesting one for you break guru's...
Ok thanks for the help guys and wylcat i went over it again today just to completely verify that nothing was pinched...It actually was, i must have looked over it but when i re-attached the brake line mount i placed on top of the wire that is connected to the abs sensor. I took it off move the wire cleaned the sensor and re mounted the sensor and break line mount and the problem seems to be gone now. I am guessing that the griding was because the ABS line was pinched causing the abs to slightly stay engaged. as soon as i fixed that problem the grinding feel was gone.
Thanks again for the help guys!

Yea go figure it is still doing it. Looks like i may need to replace the wiring assembly since it did get pinched. Looks like tomorrow i will call toyota and see if they can quote me an arse puckering quote for a piece of wire....

Re: Here is an interesting one for you break guru's...
its like 200 bucks. call carson or toyotaparts4u for a (relatively) decent price. try wiggling, cleaning and reseating both sensors, and inspect the tone ring in the hub through the hole before you drop coin on that sensor. i almost did the same thing but thorough cleaning and readjusting and the problem went away. good luck, hope the wire isn't really trashed.
