Originally posted by nj1266 I just got off the phone with the service department at Carson Toyota. I told them that my Tundra is having vibrations when I hit the brakes. I mentioned to him that there is a NEW TSB that will replace the calipers and the rotors and other hardware.
He said that the TSB BR004-02 ONLY applies to the Sequoia and not the Tundra.
If anyone can help me find a dealer in California that will do the TSB on the Tundra I will appreciate it.
They are a supporting dealership on this site. I am suprised that they gave you a hard time and didn't mention the ones that apply to the Tundra. Maybe try mentioning that you are a member at this site or send an email to Steve G or Diane and ask them to give you the name and number of a service person there that KNOWS what he/she is talking about.
Just got off the phone with the dealer.
They are replacing for free my:
Calipers, roters, bearings, brakes.

I bought the truck used about a month ago from a private party on ebay. with 11,400 miles on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1863741999
It is a V6 2wd 2000 Tundra.
They just fixed another Tundra hust before I brought mine in so they knew exactly what had to be done.
Best part about it was "NO CHARGE" as long as it is fixed, I'll be happy.
Can't wait to get it home so I can put my fog lights on it.
Database Files from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
The TSB that I saw for the Tundra that describes the problem is
BR003-00
Just go through the menus at the site and pick your vehicle.
Try printing it out and showing the dealer and watch his jaw drop when you have the facts !
Since I bought my truck used from a private party, my truck is not covered under the 3 year 36000 mile warranty but Toyota is fixing it for free anyway.

I sure thought so! The only thing that I can see may be negotiable is the extended warranty, and usually that can carry over with a little bit of money.

Just dropped my truck off at the dealer for the brake repairs. Mentioned the TSB.......service writer said they were aware of it and my truck would be taken care of. She said she would phone me tomorrow with an update. They also gave me a 2002 Camry to use while they have my truck.
And I called my dealership of purchase, spoke with the top dog. He said I needed to talk with the service manager to get the little nasty deed (done by the regional rep) undone.
Called the service manager. Asked for his help. He said he would call me on monday.
Here it is wednesday, and not a word from anyone.
Which is the exact same reason I went to arbitration as this dealership seemed to want to wash their hands after the sale.
The moral to the story is: Some dealerships suck. Some don't. This one does. Maybe yours won't. Problem is that you don't know until you really need them.
Last week I called the dealership after reading some of these posts. This is the dealership that did my first brake TSB. The service advisor I spoke to was very polite and had to ask the service director if they would do the second brake TSB for me (I suppose she needed to ask because I have 43,000 miles on the truck but, my 3 years is up at the end of November). He agreed to do it as a "Good Will". So they ordered the parts and yesterday I picked her up. Brakes feel great ! I couldn't get goin' very fast because of traffic and snow storm. But I am very happy.
Would the resident TS Fortune Teller please answer this guy's question?
No, really man, there's no way to tell, people here seem to think it will fix the issue. As a matter of fact, of all the TSBs performed with the latest newly designed hardware, I've only read 2 complaints of it not fixing the situation. Is that 2 too many? Probably, but is it the (1)mechanic's ineptness, (2)the customer's mis-treatment/diagnosis, or (3)T's lack of a FIRM solution? My guess is in that order, 1-2-3.
From that amount of work this TSB involves, for the amount of money this TSB costs, and for the amount of time it took the big T to design and implement this TSB, one would certainly surmise that the Big Guns at T said FIX IT.
I took all of your advice, and am still getting the runaround from my dealer. The service manager insists my vibration (started at 7500 miles) is due to worn pads. He says if your pads are worn, the TSB doesn't apply to me. Toyota national customer service referred me to the dealer customer relations manager, who just handed the phone back to the service manager. Talk about getting a runaround!
Now the service manager doesn't remember ever seeing the "Toyota Factory Engineer" who measured my calipers and said they were fine. They got my money, and changed their story! The dealer claims they've never heard of a "regional" service rep. I've been on hold for 30 minutes at Toyota National Customer service. . . What do I do now?
How far are you from Concord Toyota? I can't remember how far San Rafael is from there. Dyogim has had his brakes done there and they didn't given him any problems with it. He has a hook up there, but there should be no reason to deny you the TSB work. Sounds like your dealer is full of sh**. Give them a call or PM Dyogim to see if he can recommend a service writer for you to talk to.
my experience has been similar, my dealer wanted $160 for wear and tear (pads and rotors) but I refused and call "national".
The "problem" with the dealer is supposedly fixed and I will see and post if and when.
You were BS's, but keep fighting and make them pay for their greed if not your pocket!
Make a note of this everyone. . . Toyota National Customer Service said this, "As long as your Tundra is still under warranty, you are ENTITLED (italics added) to have the TSB performed." Toyota authorized the work under warranty and within 5 minutes faxed a repair request to an embarrassed R&G Toyota. Toyota also said they will help get some of the repair cost that I've already paid reimbursed, if R&G refuses to do the right thing.
Thanks for all of your help! If your truck is under warranty, let's hold them to this
