Well I took my truck in today. I now currently have a loaner.....Corolla Type S.. Feels like riding in a go cart. I will let you know what happens. Remember I am at 54k miles so no warranty. Loaner was free though......

Is it your fronts or rear brakes? Keep us posted...Mitch
Well, it's been a while since I've been on line, but thought I'd come in and see if anyone else was still having problems with vibration while braking after having the brake TSB done with the new parts that are supposed to be the fix all.
I've had three complete brake jobs, first at 4700 miles, second at around 24,000 miles, and the third around 33,000 miles. The third time they used the new parts meant to end this problem once and for all.
Well, I now have 42,000 miles and my truck is jumping like a bucking bronco again. It's been going on for the last few thousand miles, but I didn't take it to the dealer till I had another unrelated problem.
Well, since they have done the "fix", I have been told there is nothing they can do for me. My front pads are at 6mm, with the rears at 4mm. They list the problem of the vibration as "Warped Rotors". (Imagine that!) Told me since I live on a hill, (Mountains above Palm Desert.), that I am overheating the rotors when driving down the hill.
I explained that the problem started again some time ago, and that I always use the over-drive button and/or downshift when coming down the hill because of all the previous problems with my brakes. (Some of which occured before we moved to the mountains while we lived on the flat lands along I-5 in Oceanside.)
Well, they charged me $34.00 for the brake inspection, gave me an 800 number to call and complain to Toyota on, and will call and let me know when the area rep will be at their location so I can bring my truck in and let him check it out. In the mean time, I'd like to hear from anyone else that still has the vibration while braking problem after having the "fix".
I have the same problem ,Have a call in right now to toyota and I am waiting for them to call back, they are going to have to do something about the brake problem.
That's great Mr. Frozen Rotor guy, but my issue is with the drums.
Ditto, mine has alway been the rear drums. I agree with Frank it's like a Bunny hop when you hit the brakes and much worse when I am going down a hill... Mitch

Well, according to Toyota of the Desert in Palm Springs, mine is the front rotors. (AGAIN!) The service manager told me since they did the upgrade to the new calipers, rotors, etc., they won't do another repair under warranty.
I can't believe they expect us owners to have to replace pads and turn or replace the rotors every six to nine thousand miles to keep our truck from vibrating every time we press the brake pedal. The service manager said it must have something to do we me living in the mountains, but didn't seem to have an answer to why it would only affect my Tundra, not my wife's Lexus which is driven up and down the hill way more than the truck, and why doesn't everyone else living up here have trouble with the brakes on their cars and trucks.
I traded my 2001 in I was so sick and tired of dealing with the brake issues(worked on 5 times) and so many other quality and major issues. (Cracked manifolds/dash rattle/CV boot leak/many brake repairs/ticky engine/vibrations drive trainl/blown speaker/hard shifting tranny/ loose windows/TSB on seat belts even/bad A/C condenser/spark knock/ TOYOTA can produce a HYBRID car but can't engineer or properly assemble what they currently produce????
Well I got my truck back Friday and it was fixed. Toyota resurfaced the rotors and drums, replaced the front pads, fixed my leaf springs (crooked) and checked out my drive shaft. I also had the tires (new michelins on 16 x 10's) road force balanced. I paid for the front pads (50 dollars which are normally 70 something) and I paid for the road force balance (99.00). So all in all not bad. I will say this truck drives better than the day I bought it. There aren't any vibrations all the way up to 80mph. The best part there are none coming back down. I am happy for now.......

Good luck, all I can say is I hope it lasts longer than my fix's have(around 1000-2000miles) Mitch
So its drums that your having problems with. Well...
Cryogenic Tempering works on DRUMS just as well as it works on rotors. You would be amazed at how many things there are in this world that could bennefit from Cryogenic Tempering. I just got done treating eleven Subaru Gear Sets for the pro ralley team. Now, instead of blowing out the tranny half or three-quarters of the way through the race, they are 3 times more likley to finish without having a transmission fail.
