TS Central Valley Meet Sunday, 9/30/07, Woodward Park, Fresno
Anyone interested in a central valley meet the last Sunday in September? We have to get past the valley heat so the earliest we can do it is late September otherwise it may be miserable outside. I'll rent a space at Woodward Park off Friant Road in Fresno for a TS meet. Bring something for everyone for a lunch gathering, bring the kids, family, and it should be fun. I'll cook the burgers and dogs from 11 am to 2 PM.

The date is set and correct. There's are a few hotels close to Friant road all along US-41 from Herndon north, which are only a couple of minutes to the park. I checked Hotels.com and found several but if you're more specific about the type I can give you some addresses.

There are a bunch of hotels nearby, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Ramada, Extended Stay, Holiday Inn Express. Several of these are almost brand new. This area has had a severe hotel shortage for the last several years, now their building like crazy.
Woodward Park is many hundreds of acres and has a new wildlife section that was just opened that is also very large. The park has many BIG covered buildings with PLENTY of seating, with big grass areas and plenty of kid play areas, and an enclosed dog play area. There is a bike trail system that goes around the park, along the San Joaquin River, and connects to all of Clovis and north fresno, including underpasses on busy streets.
Downtown Clovis has many antique shops also.
Just over an hour away in the mountains are some great jeep and 4wd trails.
Hundreds of miles of local hiking trails also
Sequoia Nat. Park is an hour away, Yosemite Valley is about 2 hours away.
Great fishing close by. Pine Flat Lake 1/2 hour away, fishing, waterskiing, etc.
Shaver Lake an hour away and is at 6,000 feet, nice area also.
Point is....plenty to do!!
Anyone coming could make a great 3-4 day trip out of it.

I know this location very well used to run x country In high school and Woodwood Park was My personal favorite for running events. I am flying back for my birthday to visit family and planing my brothers wedding planned in Va. I will be in Clovis near copper road from sept 8th to the 12th so look's like I might be missing this event if tundrasoul or S gull would like to meet give me a ring coarse I dont have my Tundra with me.

Well, it wasn't going to be quite THAT far south! More like the northern Sierra Nevada, kind of near Tahoe
However, put me down as a 'maybe'. I would make it a day trip. It would be just over a 3 hour drive each way. Piece of cake after my recent 11 day, 2,600 mile round trip to Yellowstone last week.

well I will be shipping my truck out to oakland and I can have it shipped there around the same time to attend this meet up....then I am off to seattle, colorado springs, and my final dest. Oklahoma City......
I would most definately like to meet some of you guys on here that have helped with the buildup of my truck....is there a award for "farthest distance travelled to attend this meet" ?
