Default "avoid Muffler Tech For Header Job"

That's right folks, if you want competent mechanic to install your headers, do not bring your headers for them to install.

It took two days for them to install my headers and they still managed to be very incompetent at what they are suppose to do. I still have a leak on the driver side of the header.

Yesterday, I took my truck to a buddy of mine to have him look at. Guess what? Three nuts was not even tighten! He tighten them all up and no more leaks.

The store manager at muffler tech told me that my header were likely warped and that we need to get a replacement.

Anyways, thought that I put the words out for the folks in town. Maybe you'll have a better luck but I sure will NEVER go back there for any kinds of work.

I had the exact opposite experience with MufflerTech. They installed my TRD headers and I have had no problems. They did excellent work on my truck. What kind of headers did you have installed?

I have JBA headers. The first day that I took my truck there, it took them 5 hours. At closing time, they started up the truck and had air leaking from the driver side. The guy told me to come back the next day and they'll re-look at it.

The second day, I was there for 2.5 hours. They took out the header and re-installed it back. Initially, he told me that they founded a kink in my gasket, which was the cause of the air leak. After it was installed, they took it out of the bay and the air leak was very noticeable as usual.

This is when they told me that my driver side header was warped.

Nevertheless, if you're happy with them and if they did a good job on your vehicle...I'm happy for you.

It may be that they might not know about the 2005. It may be that the technician was new. It may be that it was a hectic day. Could it be that my truck was too unique for them? Whatever their case was, they did not secure 3 of the bolt tightly.

By the way, which location did you take your truck to (Madison or Florin?)

I had mine done at the Madison location. I went to the Florin store first, but they told me they don't do headers there. It took them about 4 hrs. to do mine. They had me come back a week later and they checked and re-torqued the headers. That was about 4 years ago and no problems. Hope yours work out ok.

I came to find out that the Florin location will only service exotic vehicles so for our elite vehicles, we'll have to take it to the Madison location.

Anyhow, thanks for the word of encouragement Rick. My buddy did tighten them up for me and I'm enjoying my truck once more.
