This is a discussion thread titled "SF Bay Area Dealer Opinion - Service/Repair", within the California forum, part of the News and Events category.
Just bought a 2002 SR5 Access Cab 4x4 TRD w/ 26k. Still under the original factory warranty, and though I will do some of the work myself, also wanted to have records for oil changes and TSB's. (could feel a little shimmy in the brakes on the test drive)
I am in the the SF Bay Area (live in Oakland, work in Dublin) and wondered if some more experienced members in my area could recommend a dealer with a great service department ? Or, just as good: Where to avoid going!
Also, is there a good independent shop in the area familiar with Tundra's that already knows what works, re: suspension, exhaust, LSD, etc...or should I just stick with the dealer and TRD items.
Thanks! This is a great site, and I will do my best to contribute what I can, as I learn about my Tundra.
I've always have gone to my local delaer here in Concord. However, my GF worked at the dealer and always directed me to the right person to work on my truck. Personlly, I wouldn't be able to recommend a specific dealer and I like to try and work on my truck myself.
If you ever need help with an installation, definitely check this board. I'm sure we can get a wrench-a-thon together and help you install whatever for free.
i have also had very good luck with the concord toyota dealer. one of the service writers in particular has always been a great help. the one time i didnt see him specificially... it was kind of a nightmare. now that i am out of warranty.. ill probably only take it there for major services.
they are doing a complete remodel there.. so im not sure how long it takes to get an appointment... but i would contact dan ramellie (i dont know if thats how its spelled) at the concord service center. he is a great guy.
as far as a wrench a thon... dyogim is your man. im game for that also

My experience with Vallejo Toyota has been good. They did both recalls, O2 and front balls. They provide a ride home while the repair is being made and then pick you up again. They broke a tie rod during the ball joint fix, so they rented me a car for 1 day.. no expense.
