Default TRD Header Install - NORTHERN California??

Just got quoted $1,000 to install my set of TRD headers in my '02 4WD SR5.
from two dealers.

DAMN! 7-8 hrs labor @120.00 / hr plus welding the flange. Seems kinda high!

Anyone experienced with this install in the SF Bay Area or in driving distance thereof that can do it for $500 or so?

Thanks!

I'd help you out for free but, I don't have a welder. Catiger is in the E.Bay and is installing his JBA headers. I plan on installing the SS Autchrome headers(buying from Catiger) after I get smogged. Which will be done after the SAS. There's a place here in Concord called Toyota Pro, call them and see how much they charge. I haven't done any business with them but, they seem like a good standing business.

Default Let me know

I was curious how much it would cost locally, but never got off my lazy butt to find out. I just bit the bullet and did the install with the help of a friend. Of course, the TRD's involve welding, but that part should be simple compared to the rest (if you have a welder and know what you are doing, but unfortunately I cannot claim either ).

A buddy of mine had some custom work done at Morgan's Machine Shop in walnut creek, you could try there. I remember when I first started dreaming of headers I talked to them about installation, but can't remember if they actually quoted a price...

Others on the board have been quoted anywhere from 3 to 6 hours for shorty headers (like the JBA's or SSAutochrome's). Do a search and you will find some interesting info.

So let us know what you come up with, and holler if there's anything we can do to help.

Bruce,
Little FYI.. I got mine installed at a local shop for $250. They were done in less than 4 hours. Did you get the deal on the TRD's from Houston?

Man for that money I would have saved a trip to confessionals for all the cursing I did!

Actually I kind of enjoyed (most) of the installation and it is a really satisfying feeling knowing that I did it myself...

Thanks to Dyogim, I called Toyota Pro in Concord. They will do the install and all welding done in house, for $495.00 The principal, Mike Gibson, seems like he really knows his stuff about Toyotas. Sure do appreciate all your advice!!!

Can you bolt it all up yourself and then just tow/cruise it over to be welded? Just a thought, it might save you a few bucks...
