Default Hardwired my Passport radar detector (pics)

I've always been a fan of hardwiring radar detectors and I'm not a fan of the little black box that they come in so I always take them apart and make my own custom install instead. I ended up mounting it just in front of the 12v plug in front of the arm rest. The install was pretty easy and straight forward and turned out pretty clean. That spot where I mounted it was the perfect size because any smaller of a surface area and it would have looked a little off. In the end it looks like it could be OEM which is what I go for whenever I mod something. Thought I would share in case any of you were looking for ideas.

Wow, that looks great. I also hard wired mine, but I tucked the mute control above the steering wheel, which works ok, and is removable. Since I have the 9500, I rarely need to use the mute button, and when I do it's usually to store the location so it never goes off again (CVS, for example).
What I would really like to do is find a way to cover that gaping black hole in the center of my ash grey console. It really drives me nuts. I tried to get one from one of the dash mold places, but no one I could find sells just that piece. Apparently the ones on the gas models are covered, with a hinged lids.
Any info or ideas appreciated.

Where & how did you hide the front end of the unit?

Looks REALLY nice BTW!

I plan to upgrade to the blue 9500i in all my cars before too much longer.

The case that it comes in doesn't even exist. I took the label off of the front and then the guts are mounted from the back side w/high temp hot glue. You drill three holes and then the sticker goes over the front for that finished look and you're done.
