Camry HybridGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "07 Camry Hybrid MPGs", within the Camry Hybrid forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
Wanted to see what other fellow Hybrid owners are getting with the various type of driving conditions.
I have only had my 07 for a few weeks and currently have 380 miles. I am 1/8 below a half tank. The computer is showing 40.6 mpg for this tank. I will of course check it when I fill up but looks like it will be awhile. I want to run it till the light comes on. I also have an 06 Prius and the computer on it is pretty accurate so I'm hopeful the Camry is also.
I drive a 50/50 mix of hwy and moderate city. I put 40 lbs of air pressure in the tires the day I got it (recommendation from the Prius board). I have been driving in a non-aggressive manner but doing the speed limit.
Love the car and the power, feels like a V6. I don't like the brightness of the AC control panel. I had to adjust it down as much as possible so as I can still see the gages. That's about the only complaint I have.
My wife now wants me to trade her 06 Prius for a Hybrid Camry with moon roof. Dealer can't find one and looks like she will have to wait a couple of months. What's up with that

I have 1200 miles on my Camry Hybrid - picked it up on 5/26. I had inquired about the Camry Hybrid at the dealer on 4/11, and put a deposit down so I could be on the list. Well, since I wanted a fully loaded vehicle, the 2nd car they received was mine if I wanted it (it wasn't the color I wanted). I took it and actually really like the color (blue).
I am averaging about 38 mpg/tank. Yesterday I drove to a clinic I operate 70 miles north - 39.8 mpg going, and 43.1 returning (more downhill to a degree); highway construction going on, so some slow zones.
The car is rated 38 city/ 40 highway - these must be the "new" ratings as they are accurate. Needless to say I am pleased with this vehicle. It is a comfortable ride, and I am finally figuring out the navigation system. It is a larger vehicle than the Prius. I had a patient who told me that if he used cruise control always (on the expressway) he would average 50 mpg.
I am now looking for a good price on a platinum 7/100,000 warranty.
Suggest going to a dealer and plopping down some cash to get on the list, if you really want one. Expect to pay sticker price.

I have a '07 Camry HV and and '07 XLE V6.
First off, while more peppy than the 4 cyl I test drove the HV is nowhere near as peppy as the XLE v6. It is plenty powerfull nonetheless for the driving I do.
I have 200 miles on the HV and the energy screen says 36 mpg for this tank and it's slowly increasing.
I have been getting 30+ mpg on my short 3 mile drive to work and 40+ on any trips over 10 minutes. I briefly had it up to 70 mph and the consumption meter said 40 mpg exactly. During the breakin period I have been careful about varying the engine speed keeping the max speed under 70 mpg except for very brief tests.
I love the HV.
My wife loves the XLE.

I've had my camry hybrid for 1 week and put 700 miles on it. I did highway driving with bumper to bumper commute traffic for the first 10+ miles each day. I'm averaging 40.6 mpg and loving it . This coming week I'll be back to my normal driving pattern to and from work, about 20 miles round trip city streets every day, so I'll be anxious to see what my mpg will be for the next week. I'll keep you posted.
I posted a message and sent an email to Troy about getting a quote for the platinum warranty and pre-paid maintenance and never received a reply. But I did get both (pre-paid maintenance for 4 yrs-55K miles and platinum warranty for 6 yrs-75K miles) from my dealer for $1500. Hope I didn't get taken.
If you haven't tried it yet, put 40lbs of air in your tires and see how much difference that makes.
Also has everyone noticed the oil weight that is recommended for these engines? I bought some 0w-20w Mobile one to change mine over to after I get about 1000 miles on it.

Update:
Spent the weekend in Galena, IL and Dubuque,IA. Moderately hilly terrain. Burned up approx 3/4 tank of gas for 500 miles. The information panel says 39.9 mpg for the tank. All rural and hwy miles.

Finally got down to the low fuel light coming on and went to fill up. The light seems to come on with about 3 gals left in the tank. The car PC had 41.5 mpg's. I had gone 578 miles and filled it to the very top and it took 14.5 gals. That's 39.9 mpg. That is with the car not broke in and was the first tank of gas. I also might have squeezed a little more fuel in than the salesman did when he filled it up. I do run the tires on 40 psi. I am Very happy with the overall performance and economy of this vehicle!!
I plan on this tank, not taking it too easy on the throttle and see what the difference is.
