Has anyone else with the hybrid noticed the blue band around the speedometer and how it lights up brighter while your driving.

I don't know for sure but wounder if it is to show the condition of the battery or something.

It took me awhile but I kept noticing the band not being there at all after I just started the car and then after some time the blue band appears then later it would get yet brighter.

If anyone knows for sure what this indicates, please share.

It gives you the MPG of the current trip. I believe there are three levels of illumination. See your owners manual.

That is correct.
It is documented in the manual.
There are three levels of brightness and they correspond to the 3 steps in the ECO information display.
The same display that stays on for a few seconds after you power off and if you are in the 35+ mpg step for the trip is flashes "EXCELLENT !!!".

Yep, I found it finally in the manual. Thanks!! thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

I'm up to 41.5 mpg's and have better than 1/4 tank left. Looks like I will get better than 600 miles before I have to fill up. Love it
