This is a discussion thread titled "2007 Camry Hybrid Keyless Entry Beeping", within the Camry Hybrid forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
On our '07 Camry Hybrid we have the keyless entry system. You simply grab the door handle and as long as the key is in your pocket or close by the door will unlock. However when this happens the system beeps continuously until the car is started with the push button. Sort of like an alarm sound, just a straight beep. Anyway, the sound is disturbing, so can it be disabled?

What you describe is not normal. Is the car in Park? Just picking at straws.

My 07 XLE V6 with smart key does something similar to this. If I walk up to the car (locked) with the fob in my pocket and hit the door button, it will give a very long beep. It is telling me that I don't have to hit the button because it recognizes the fob and will unlock the door without pushing the button. At times I just forget about this and hit the button and it gives the long continuous beep. I don't know if the dealer can use their programmer and change that for you or not. I bet Mustang..... (can't remember the rest) can find out for you.

Isn't the button ONLY for locking the door and touching the door handle is for opening?
J
so40 is right, the black button on the door handle is just for locking the car. You don't need to press it to unlock the car, just pull open the door handle with the key in your pocket or close by. Problem solved.
