Default What are your MPGs

My first couple of tanks was 37mpg now it has nearly 2,000 miles. I run 40lbs in the tires and at 1000 miles I put the 0w-20w Mobile One oil. I have regularly averaged from 39-41 mpg. That is actual mpg's not what the computer states. I drive 50% highway and 50% city. Curious what other folks are getting.

No leaks, rattles, or anything but perfection. Love the car and the great get up and go it has.

Thanks

Bob

I run recommended tire pressure, whatever oil came in the car and drive 50/50 hwy/suburban and get 40 mpg average after 1500 miles. I leave the a/c in auto/eco 100% of the time too.

Hi, my Hybrid is going on 4 months old and will turn 4,000 miles tomorrow. I keep very close numbers on fuel consumption and at last fill up(August 4th), it was averaging 42.3 mpg. I live in a rural area and so many of my miles are regarded as highway miles. Friday will begin about a 3500-4000 mile trip in which I hope to attain high 40s on mostly level highway driving. The car is wonderful with a few accessorie shortfalls, the navi system is mediocre in comparison to that of Honda. An '06 Acura TL was traded in and both the XM and the navi were far superior. Toyota's answer to XM radio installation is a Rube Goldberg type thing, the antennae is located inside the car on the rear shelf beneath the window. My local dealer said to get a real antennae installed on the forthcoming trip and he will reimburse me, very nice. No rear regrets with the Hybrid itself.

Filled up today for the first time. Have the car exactly 2 weeks, only drove 327 miles and put in 12 gallons = 27.25 MPG, assuming the dealer gave me a full tank. The consumption meter said avg was 28.9, so I guess I didn't really have a full tank.
I guess my lower than expected MPG is due to my daily commute being 2 miles with 2 traffic lights and 6 stop signs. But even so, its double the mileage I got on my minivan, so I'm very happy.
Made a 40 mile roundtrip to a friend's tonight and the meter showed Excellent - 40 MPG when I powered off.

In the reply to the mpg question--One respondent thought his mileage was in error as the dealer may not have filled the tank. The computer bases the mile/gallon from the time the filler door is closed. The quanity in the tank only effects the range of the car, not the mpg. Msg for rule caesar.
Incidentally. the computer mpg is very accurate. I have always figured mpg for each tank in past cars, but after doing a tank or two on the hybrid, found it a waste of time. The computer does not care if the tank is full to the brim or not, only computes miles on the gas used.

Took a 200 mile round trip to the Catskill mountains yesterday - lots of uphill going, meter read 37 mpg, more downhill return trip, 40 mpg. MPG average on trip information is now up to 31. I now have 625 miles on the odometer, so its still early. Have yet to try using cruise control.

Just completed a 140 mile trip this weekend. I had several hundred miles already on this tank but when I filled the tank it was 43.2 mpg. The computer had 43.8 mpg. I now have 2,300 miles. Love the smart key system. Got to be the best Camry ever made.

VERY satisfied with the performance of this machine.

Bob

Owned TCH since 7/4/06 but have only 2000 miles on it. Commute just two miles with A/C on 90% of time. Avg. 30-32 mpg. Took on highway for one tank and averaged 36 mpg. Still very happy.

I have had my TCH for 3 weeks and have just over 1000 miles on it. I have had my MPG as high as 41.6 when I really watched the fuel consumption gauge, but normal driving is around 38. It's a fun challenge trying to get maximum MPG!

Have had the TCH since May5th. Currently near 13,700 miles.

My manual calculated FE is 38.6, my corrected for milage error FE is 39.2 and the lifetime "indicated" milage is 39.5mpg.

I keep track of all three in a spreadsheet. The corrected for milage FE takes into consideration the 1.5% odometer error that has been verified by many (myself included) using a GPS unit. It helps explain some of the discripancy between the computer and the manual calculation but not all of it. I still believe that extensive use of E mode and the FE60 driving does not allow for accurate measurement of fuel flow at low flow rates, thus some error in the computer. Just can't verify that but can't think of another explaination.
