In NYC, where I live, drivers of Civic Hybrids, Insights & Prius', (not all model years, but most) can drive in the HOV lanes of the Long Island Expwy with no other passengers.
I checked the DMV website and found out you need a sticker from the DMV. But the Camry Hybrid isn't on their list. A phone call revealed that they don't know if the model has been reviewed for qualification or if it simply didn't meet the standards. Apparently the minumum MPG is 45, which would mean the TCH doesn't qualify based on the EPA ratings.
Anyone know of other states where TCH drivers can use HOV lanes with no passengers? I'm wondering how to lobby the NYS DOT & DMV to consider the TCH.
