During the first tank of gas, the NAV display for fuel consumption showed both average and best figures. After the first refueling, it only shows average. I have not pushed reset, so can anyone tell me why there is no longer a display for best?
My average is displaying as 30.8 mpg, I drive only 2 miles each way to & from work, but since I've made a few longer trips with the eco-meter showing 37 to 40, shouldn't I have a best display of say, 38 or so?
Will be filling up this weekend, so maybe it will reset then.
Checked the owner's manual, but no info about a lack of display.
I have not seen a best mpgs on mine. Every time you fill up it will automatically reset your tank average mpgs. Mine ranges from 41-43 but I drive 15 miles one way on my daily commute.

Why, isn't the sticker estimate 38 or something like that.

Life Tech, from the inventory in your garage, sounds like its you that hasn't figured it out! The numbers that can be reset each and every start up regarding mileage are on the vertical minute by minute fuel consumption screen. You may choose the delete both numbers, or keep the best tank average as a reference. If your tank average is low due to lots of hills, frequent startups, or cold engine starts, you can zero out the trip useage on the vertical display and get figures for only that next segment of usage.
Right now that is the situation with my useage. The tank so far is at about 36-37 mpg overall. I drive 18 miles to the nearest town and zero out the segment computer before starting, and usually get around 47-49 mpg for the round trip, which increases the tank overall mpg by a couple of numbers.
The mpg is high as we have 55 mph speed limit on our roads. My car has 7300 miles and an overall average of 41.9 mpg.
I have not seen a best mpgs on mine. Every time you fill up it will automatically reset your tank average mpgs. Mine ranges from 41-43 but I drive 15 miles one way on my daily commute.

Holly molly man 43 mpg. That is good. My second tank averages on 37.5 mpg. My calculation is 36.2 . Real heavy feet and I am having hard time controlling it.

I know exactly what you mean. I have to work at not kicking it to feel the power, feels a lot like a turbo but smoother. I keep a close eye on the tire pressure and use synthetic oil and mostly drive like an old man. The computer reads a little higher (44.1 or so) but with I do the math it is almost always 43 mpg.

Hi CurryBob, Just read your response re:TCH mileage. One thing that caught my attention was your checking of the tire pressure on a regular basis. On my TCH, and I assume on yours, is a pressure warning light adjacent to the fuel guage. It supposedly monitors the pressure and illuminates when a drop is sensed. There is a reset button in the glove box, as I recall. So far this has not been an issue for me. The dealership checks pressure when the car is in for service. Seems like a rather basic system. The Acura TL has a system where the actual pressure on all wheels can be read at any time, much better!
At just under 8,000 miles, my overall average has been 41.9. Best tank 44.4.
You are right about the tire pressure warning light. My understanding is however they only let you know when the pressure is low. I keep my pressure at 40lbs and they light from what I understand will not come on until about 10 or more lbs has been lost.
Sounds like your mpgs are about the same as mine.
How you liking your car so far? Loving mine
Bob

I always use synthetic mobil1 but since I got only 1200 miles on the car I have the oil from factory still. So you are going with 40 psi instead of 32 (from the tire pressure recommended by Toyota.) I will try that to than. I have been stepping on it since last fill up and i have 32.3 mpg on the computer . Love the way it drives when you give it to it .
But this is just an experiment on this tank.
Ofcourse where you are driving makes huge difference too.

I switch the oil at 1000, I don't like to leave the factory oil in too long.
I have Micheline Energy tires and the tires themselves state not to put more than 40lbs of pressure and not exceed 44lbs of pressure. I guess the 44lbs is for when the tire heats up. 8lbs of pressure can make a noticeable difference in your MPGs. Some have expressed concern on the ride they would get with the extra pressure but mine rides like a Lexus. Let me know what you get.
