Default Thermos

I’m from New Brunswick, Canada and purchased my TCH in August. My previous car was a 1996 V6 LE which performed flawlessly for 237000Kms.

I’ve been informed there is a “thermos” device that stores a quantity of hot coolant to assist in warming the engine when temperatures are cold. Where could I obtain technical information on this component?

I’ve asked the dealer about diagnostic checks to see if the car is “programmed” correctly so as to achieve the optimum economy. The answer I got was that this was “time consuming” and I would be charged. I plan to take this up with the Toyota headquarters.

Yes there is. It's to help heat the motor up faster for lower emissions. Here is a link that explains it. Our system is the same as the Prius.
