Default Brakes

I purchased my TCH in late August and have just had the 8000Kms check done. A while ago the brakes started to squeal when you applied light braking at a low speed. I’d heard this was a problem and advised the dealer. They acknowledged it was and said they would order the shims. This morning I asked if they had addressed this problem and was advised it was all my imagination and what I was hearing was the regenerative braking. I considered this response rather patronizing and have advised Toyota Canada.

I haven't had any squealing sounds on my breaks or my wifes, try cleaning out any possible break dust from the pads?

I too am experiencing the squeeks when braking at low speeds going forward and in reverse. There are 2 TSBs that may pertain to this problem - discussion thread and TSBs can be found on greenhybrid. When I emailed my service manager about this (although I disagree) I was told that they did not pertain to my build date. They will be examining my brakes when I go in for an oil change in a couple weeks.

Has nothing to do with dirt. It's a known design issue. There is are two TSBs in the KB here that address both the conventional and hybrid '07 Camry's. Affects both front and rear brake squeeking at low speeds with light braking. There is a redesigned bracket I believe.

My dealer finally acknowledged the brake problem after I produced the two American TSB’s. They agreed to order the parts and call me when to bring in the car. They called today and told me the TSB’s and the parts haven’t reached Canada yet. You’d think with the large Toyota presence in Canada there would be the same timely sharing of information and parts.

Success, I think!

My dealer has just installed the parts listed in TSB BR010-06 (Rear Brake Squeak). They went to great pains to tell me they did this even though Toyota Canada has not issued the Canadian equivalent of the American TSB. Apparently Toyota Canada has not yet figured out how they want to address this problem.
