Default Satelite Radio (AUX input) reproduces noise from vehicle electronics (not w/ iPod)

I have a 2007 TCH w/ nav and use my ipod and Satellite Radio through the car's AUX input. The ipod sounds great. The Satellite Radio sounds okay, except for noise that seems related to regenerative braking activity and maybe some other interference. To be completely clear, I hear noise through the speakers when the car decelerates. I'm guessing it could be that the Satellite Radio may not be shielded? Anyone else with this problem? The satellite radio is a first generation sirius sportster (not even the replay model).

Just curious, how are you connecting the ipod? Does your connection method only allow playing through the stero system or can you control as well?

Wow I thought i was the only one who would have experienced this - and it turns out to be happening for me in the same circumstances too.

Do you hear a clicking noise when pressing the brake pedal?

I hear a click over my stereo while using AUX input for my sirius (on a toyota corolla) whenever I press or release the brake pedal. it makes a distinguishable click on pressing and releasing the pedal - I can't honestly figure out what could cause this. The strange thing is I'm pretty sure it just started happening in the last week although i've been using the new stereo with AUX input for 3 weeks.

I'll have to experiment with regular radio to see if the noise disappears without using the AUX input.

Did you find anything else out yet?

If I understand correctly, it sounds like you have two different devices connected to one aux input. If so, this could be a problem and cause the whining.

I'm not a professional... but it sounds like you need a ground loop isolator. I've only heard of a RCA ground loop isolator (you can pick up one for a couple of bucks on ebay)... but you probably need it for line in. If they don't make line in ground loop isolators, you could use a RCA to line in adapter.

Hope this helps... if not, go to caraudio.com. Those guys know a lot more than I do.
