Camry-SolaraGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry-Solara.
This is a discussion thread titled "Replacing cabin AC air filer.", within the Camry-Solara forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
Has anyone replaced the AC air filter yet? I have an 06 Solara with20,000 miles & just now replaced the AC air filter. It was pretty dirty & you could not see light through it. Replacing it is a snap. And I don't use my AC very much either. If you let the filter get clogged it will restrict the air flow of AC into the cabin. Any comments out there just fire away? I have a 1999 VLE V6 Solara. Any chance you can expand on how to replace the cabin AC filter? Shame on me, has never been done. Good project for this coming weekend. Wait to hear back. Thanks.
The cabin air filter on my 05 is right behind the glove box. when you open it ther should be a little lip on both sides that keeps it from falling all the way to the floor when you bring it down it should be back in there somewhere.

In the 05 manual, they show having to remove some screws to drop the glovebox door...you sound like that was not necessary. How easy is it and how long did it take? Did you find the filter at Auto Zone/PepBoys or have to go to Toyota?
replaced mine...remove one screw and press the sides of the glove box toward the center. Glove box drops down (oh yea, you need to empty the glove box first or it will do it at this point). Filter slides out in a little carrier tray. pinch in the sides to remove it from the tray. Then reverse the process. Takes five minutes.
