Default Solara convertables may be discontinued?

Well, there is strong talk at Freehold Toyota that they will discontinue the convertable model? Any one know about this? Comments? I had my first problem with my solara convertable. Its an 06 with 20,000 miles on it. Well, the brake master cyclinder & boaster went bad & guess what - no parts available? They've had the car for 5 days now but they gave me a loaner to use.

If this wasn't under warranty it would cost me one thousand bucks to repair. But I have extended insurance. It calls for free flatbedding to the nearest Toyota dealer & 3 nights logging & meals if they can not fix your vehicle right away. I think you get a loaner too?

Otherwise no problems with the car.

Actually, ONLY the convertibles will be continuing Mfg. for 2008 year - end of the line for the coupe was 2007. Nothing past 2008 - they're shutting down the line mid-year.

I really hate to hear this. My wife will be devistated. My wife owns the car. I'm just the mechanic supporting her driving the tires off it.

My opinion is that it will be rebadged as Camry Solara. They sell all the convertibles that they build.

^^ Wrong. It was originally the Camry Coupe - then the Camry Solara - then just the Solara. I have heard directly from the Toyota factory that they have already shut down the production line for the coupe and are only producing convertibles until mid-year 2008 and will shut down the plant completely. They will be building yet another cross-over suv/car thing in that plant and have already begun tooling.

Goodbye Solara.

Fin.

That would leave no marketable four seat convertable in this class. I could be wrong but I think auto makers only have to make replacement parts for 3 years after shutdown of a line.
