Default Changed my '02 Solara battery and now...

Just swapped out the dead battery on my '02 Solara and now the idle is so low that the car wants to stall and will stall in park or in drive...I'm a bit of a dork when it comes to cars and I'm a bit flummoxed at this development. There were absolutely no issues with the idle prior to me removing and replacing the battery...I don't get it.

Anybody out there have any idea what the reason is for this and what the solution might be?

Please help, my wife is giving me the stink eye for messing up her car.

Ummm...never mind folks. The car sat overnight and seemed to correct itself during it's long slumber. Wifey's very happy and so am I.

Any particular reason why this happens? Does the computer need some time to reset and, if so, why doesn't it reset immediately?

Cars...

The ECU (computer) needs to reset when disconnecting the battery, and yes, driving it a bit will bring everything back to a normal conditions as it relearns your driving style and any changes in the air/fuel mix (if you ad a different air cleaner, etc)
