Default 2002 JBL 6 disk to aftermarket

Hello, my neice just got a 2002 Solara with JBL 6 disk. As any good unlce would do, I always move her Pioneer head unit around for her when she gets a new car. Can anyone provide some answers to the follwoing questions?
What specific install kit do I need to get the head unit to fit?
I assume there is an amplifier (I live in MD, the car is IL so I can not look until I get there) are you aware of any wiring kit that bypasses the factory amplifier?
Is there anything else that I need to know about this install? Considering I am about 1,000 miles away from the job, I can not look to see what I will need. I also can not look to see if this will be tricky. Any advice I can get from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I can not believe that no one on here knows if an aftermarket stereo will install into a 2002 Solarawith JBL. I guess my niece should have got a Tundra...

I know there are several but since I never did it, I couldn't tell ya.

A lot of folks upgraded to Navs - but seriously any double-din unit should work.
