Default Radio Removal Help Needed!!!

I have a 1999 Solara SLE V-6 with the JBL radio/CD/cassette. OEM unit quit working in the cassette and radio mode so bought a used unit and amp from a salvage yard - same Toyo part #'s so it should be relatively easy - once I find out how to do it.

Anyone have access to some detailed instructions on how to remove the trim pieces to get to the radio and amp so that I don't screw up more than what already done?

Does the trip pieces just "snap" out or.........?

Got some brief instructions that mention a nylon "removal tool" - anybody know what this is and what it looks like?

Instructions also mention "claws" - mentioning that these help hold the plastic together - what are these and anyone have a picture?

Any and all help would be greatly apprecitated.

Thanks,

I have a 99 SLE and replaced the head unit a long time ago. If I remember correctly, the black trim just pops out and then you access the screws on the side to release the double-din box.

it pops out , just has clips.. i use a 90 degree pick,, push it in between the dash and radio trim panel, turn the pick towards the panel, and pull on the panel with the pick from the inside.. that way you get no scratches..
