Default 99 v6 sle struts

Just had a set of four KYB GR-2 Struts installed and thought I'd give some feedback. They are stiff - every bump can be felt. When I put these in, I also put in new Toyota Springs and KYB strut mounts. I had 170k miles on it when I changed the Struts so it was probably that I was more used to the bouncy feel of riding on the springs - but now it is really stiff and am hopign that they settle in. Cornering is fun again with the TRD Sway bar and strut bar. After getting the three rear interior panels off, the install was pretty easy. Whatever folks say about taking out the back seat, you don't have to.

My '99 has 167,000. I've been dreading this purchase because of the cost. You did it yourself? Did you by chance take pictures for a DIY thread? Where did you purchase you suspension upgrades? thanks for starting this thread btw!

I bought all the parts and a friend installed them. You may not need the springs - as it turned out, even though I was riding on the springs for about three years, I didn't need to replace them. Make sure you buy the boots for all the struts you replace. The blue KYB plastic boots did not work - I ended up reusing the black strut covers on the front and used the KYB long black strut covers that cams with the brackets. Once you get access to the nuts/bolts on the back, it is very easy to remove. If you are replacing the rear struts, oull off the side panels in the rear an then slide out the shelf. From there you can access the rear strut bolts.

I think they stopped making the TRD rear sway bar. You might be able to find one a dealer is trying to get rid of......
