Radio drops out- which component is bad?

2004 Solara V6 SE Conv.

The radio drops out (no sound) for a second or two regardless of the source (radio, CD, tape). This occurs every few minutes, more often over time.

The culprit may be the Radio Rcvr Assy or maybe the Stereo Component Amp Assy. How can I determine which one needs attention?
