Default Trunk issues on a 2004 Solara SLE

This is a new car for me and I am having some issues with my trunk. I can open my trunk from a lever next to the driver's seat which releases the trunk however, when I try using my keyless entry FOB, the trunk does not release. I looked in my manual and all it says is to hold down the botton for 1 second and the trunk will release. I have tried several things and when I hold down the trunk botton, the car does beep, so it acknowledges that I am trying to open the trunk but it doesn't release. Any ideas?? I thought I would look into it myself before I take it into the dealer. Thanks for any suggestions.

The dealer may have locked the trunk. Take the Master key (one of the black keys) and make sure the line in teh keyhole is up, and down. Then, press, and hold the trunk button, and it should work. I had this happen to my Avalon, and Camry. My Camrys' Keypad had a bad connection. It kept opening the Avalon's Trunk.

Like avalonman said make sure the trunk isnt in Valet mode.
Then it would advise to either check it yourself or take to someone who can, to test the TRUNK ACTUATOR MOTOR. If the lights flash and do everything they are supposed to and aknowledges what your trying to do, you might just have a bad trunk actuator. BUT.........
The body ECU also controls this action too. If it isnt sending the proper signal to the door lock actuator then it may not work either.
MY OPINION is that you need someone who knows how this system works do a little diagnosis.
