Just got the call.... not available at the moment! DRAT! Apparently a delay on 3.5" pipe and bender delays... (They don't bend it themselves... and are at the mercy of the bender vender until they get their own bender.... grrrrrr!)
Nice to get the call from one of the owners to personally notify me... he said they have only sold a handful of these, but had GREAT feedback on them, just not alot of demand. COM'ON GUYS! Let's give them a reason to make a bunch! (He said they would definitely make mine.... just might be a few weeks..... )
The "owner" (JOSH) was VERY considerate when he called me and let me know the situation. I was assured I would not be charged until product shipped, and if I changed my mind, to let them know I wanted to cancel.
Within the hour after I had that conversation, I sent CP-e a short note indicating my desire to keep my order active and "wait" until they could send me my unit. I further indicated that I wanted to know if there was "anything I could do (concede) to facilitate expediting the order", such as talk more people into ordering the product! I was very polite and sincere in my note.
As of today, there appears to be a FEDEX tracking confirmation number of "something" forthcoming from CP-e! (I don't know if it is the intake, or perhaps the "rest of the order", filter cleaner/oil etc...." Obviously, my hope is that my note was effective in "instigating" action that got my intake somehow expedited! (I'll know in a couple days...)
Long story short, I am pleased with CP-e so far, and hoping a little verbal "honey" catches me that "fly" (as in "FLY INTAKE"!). --> I'm sure verbal vinegar would be counter-productive.... always my philosophy to "sweet talk" when there is something I want!
I received an "invoice for shipment" file later this afternoon... the item detail indicated my intake kit, and billing was for same! This is a VERY GOOD sign! I would ABSOLUTELY be out for a shift kit/valve kit/converter upgrade option! (Once I get started... ) Now I gotta post my extracted tail of TRD exhaust install....
I may go tell this tail back in the Solaraguy forum...
Sweet talk always works better for me... the parts guy I deal with is nice and helpful - to me. I can't for the life of me figure out why everyone else has issues with this guy - he's very, very good at his job and as courteous as can be. His co-workers must be nuts to all feel frustrated by this guy. [sigh] I guess he's just misunderstood.
I totally agree.... and believe MY attitude separates my GOOD experiences from so many others very "BAD" experiences. Good manners, respect, and fluid communication ALWAYS win out over impatience, contempt, and criticizm.... kinda like a marriage, eh? (Similar to how Japanese companies do business... looking at the long term relationship over the short term gains...)
If it's not past dusk when I start on it, maybe I'll get shots before, during, and after for reference.... We'll see. (Definitely the finished product!)
BTW, Dr. John's vacuum mod made a noticeable difference... cleaner/quicker on/off/on throttle in a variety of situations. Even from a steady cruising speed to a moderate jab on the throttle! (VERY subtle stuff, but to those who NOTICE, it's clearly an improvement! I have enjoyed the incremental "creep" on performance as pieces/mods are slowly materializing! I can't believe I drove this for 50k miles and haven't touched anything except the drop-in K&N I got back in early '04 when I bought it! Then again, that was ALL you could FIND back then, ne?)
I just bought an 02 v-6 solara and I am looking for parts to improve performance. Which vendor did you use? Thanks.
Tom
Well - TRD will be your first stop. You are lucky enough to be able to get a Super Charger for your model! You can also get TRD lowering springs, RSB & FSTB, short shifter and more...
For us "Gen 2" guys ('04 and up) we're a lot more limited unfortunately
By all means, if you REALLY want performance, the CP-e kit is outstanding. (I am speaking from my experience with the 2nd gen. Solara.... I'm assuming it's available for gen. 1?)
