solara convertable radio swap

Newbe to forum. We just purchased a used 2001 Solara convertable w/JBL 6 disc changer. This car was purchased to replace a 2000 Solara coupe that we've owned for 3 years. The exagerated subwoofer level in the convertable is awful. I found a thread on this problem here and there seems to be no easy fix to the exisiting radio. Will the JBL 6 disc radio from the 2000 coupe wire into the harness of 2001 convertable with no issues? I thought an easy solution to the bass problem is to just swap radios. Any thoughts! If the radio swap is a bad idea my next solution is to try find an appropriate L-pad for the subwoofer output. I'll post if it is successful. My wife really likes her Solaras - great cars.
