Default 2004 Solara Transponer Key Programming

I lost my wifes spare key to her 2004 Solara. I still have the daily key she uses, which is black (I think this designates it as a Master? Is this correct) We also have her valet key. I ordered two keys from ebay that came with two sets of instructions. One set said for 1998 + Toyota, Lexus. The otehr set of instructions said for 2002 + Toyota, lexus. I have tried both, and can get neither to work. I am assuming I am supposed to use the 2002 + instructions, but I have also read on here to try different ones if the instructions did not work. Anyways, I am going off of using the instructions that require cycling Ignition from On to Off 5 times, opening Drivers Door six times...

When people talk about the security going off to indicate the key has been programmed, what is the light doing prior to this? Is it staedy light, or a flashing? Mine begins flashing after I insert the new key, and never stops. Also, Also, I have seen conflicting information about when you insert the new key, whether you turn to the on position while it is being programmed, or if you just insert it and leave in the off position.

I appreciate any information I can get. Also, I saw some talk about possible 2004 + not being able to be programmed outside of the dealer. Any truth to this?

Blayne

That's correct. All 2004+ Solaras keys MUST be programmed from the factory through the dealer and of course that means $$ unfortunately.

Sorry man. Best of luck.

Uh - can you really help or is this a solicitation? I see this is your first post on TS - just want to make sure you're legit.

Hmmm. I am not sure how anyone would help, considering when I contacted the manufacturer of the key I purchased said they did not make one for the 2004 Solara. They said it was dealer only. Thanks.

Harsh, if I told you the state was building a Golden gate bridge between IL and MO would you believe that? Moral of the story is everything you are told isn't always the way it is..........

Please refrain from soliciting services unless you are a qualified vender for TS... especially when the services are not particularly legal.
