Camry-SolaraGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry-Solara.
This is a discussion thread titled "Need info on installing Short Ram Intake", within the Camry-Solara forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I bought a Weapon-R Dragon Intake, and I need some help installing it. It came with a few directions, but if anyone has any info on tools I will need or helpful hints, it would be much appreciated.
Well - not sure about the Weapon-R but the Injen was pretty straight-forward for me.
You have to remove the OEM airbox completely - make sure you tie-off and cap any unused hoses and be carefull of the sensor that goes back on the intake. Be sure to plug back in all hoses your intake requires - only one actualy functions on the Injen - but there's a couple dummy plugs on the side that get connected as well.
Now the CP-e guys have more electronics to deal with - but we won't go there!
Well, i got the intake successfully installed except for two 4mm hoses that wouldnt fit in the splitter they gave me (i'll get one from Lowe's). And now my Check engine, VSC, and Trac OFF, lights all came on. While i expected the check enginge light ot come on, is there any reason that the others came on?
So i finally got fed up with those lights, and hot glued some rubber caps on the end of the extra hoses, and the lights magically went off! Good thing toyota directly relates an air reading from a hose to my traction control and my vehical stability :P

Ahhh - so the W-R doesn't have caps or posts to put the hoses on then? Weird!
The Injen has "dummy" posts for the extraneous hoses that don't get reconnected, so it looks like they're actually connected to the body of the intake.
Glad you resolved your issue! That's a design problem with that brand as far as I'm concerned!
