Sirius 2007 Camry SE Satellite Kit/Install Pricing EXPENSIVE!
Whats up all-
So I ordered my Toyota factory Sirius kit from my local Toyota dealer and was happy about the price. $299 for the fit kit and the brain. But the install was another story.
The dealer quoted me $349 for the install, $349 total. What the Hell?
Some my question to everyone else is, What have you been quoted?
This seems a bit steep to say the least. Also, if you have this installed, is the antenna external mounted on the roof or where does it reside? I heard it is already built in the dash.
Thx-
T~

I am concerned about the self install requirement. Anyone already do this install and have useful comments about whether it was easy or not? I don't like the idea of ripping into the dash unless I have some kind of instructions.

I have a '07 Camry that i purchased at Larry Miller as well. I paid approx. $400 for an XM kit and they did a great job. They placed the antenna on the rear dash next to the brake light and I get great reception. The price was not bad considering that I paid approx. $900 for an '06 civic install and parts that i used to own.

BTW, I live in Laveen too. SEC of 51st/southern.
I looked at Sirius from the dealer and they wanted almost $700 for the parts/install. The antenna for sirius is inside the front window, right up next to the rear view mirror as opposed to the xm install on the back.
I was planning on calling around to phoenix stereo installers and see how much they get for this job. Any recommendations for a quality shop would be helpful.

WOW! The install itself is about a 2 hour job provided you take your time and are mindful of where are the screws go. The actual hook up to the head unit is plug and play. I bought my Sirius radio unit (SC-C1) and the ToySIR2 on the web for 200.00 which i still think is a rip off as the sirius unit is a 49.00 part and the tiny box which is the interface is a joke. Thing is its worth it if it can speak "toyota and Sirius" allowing text ID and normal functionality as the head unit itself.

We got factory sirius installed shortly after we purchased our 2007 last spring, the head unit broadcasts the sirius information fine. The only problems I personally have with the unit is that the head unit does not have enough text space for long titles and it also has only one line of text available, i.e. you can choose channel name, artist, or song. Though I suppose it is probably fully visible on the navigation unit.

This really irritates me. Sirius has the ability to display a pretty long song title/artist. I think 36 characters total, perhaps 16 or 20 per line. It is more than XM as I recall. But Toyota/Lexus have had this limitation since gen 3 nav. We're paying a lot of money for these satellite radio kits, and I think it's bogus that Toyota cannot step to the plate and make this simple update.
While we're at it, the audio menus are also very archaic. I know someone with a Cadillac Escalade and the category menu structure is very intuitive and easy to use. I wonder if anyone will ever provide a guide with realtime song titles and artists.
