Default How to check transaxle fluid on '07 Camry V6

Is there an easy way to check the transaxle fluid color, odor, and level - '07 Camry V6 ? No reference in the owner manual.

There is no dipstick. Procedure in the service manual.

I was talking to my service writer at the dealer and the Camry is one the few cars that has the new "World Standard" transmission fluid in it.

Never needs service. Period.

I know, I know...freaky huh?

Thanks

If you think about it, the car mfgs are simply setting you up to drop back in again about ever 100K.

Isn't that how long most of the "new fluids" last?

Any fool who is into longevity knows that transmission fluid must be changed every 30K-40K if you hope to keep the vehicle awhile.

If you like buying new cars every 5 years then forget about changing anything. Just keep it topping it up.

I normally would agree that a replacement schedule of 30-40K should be followed for the transmission but that would only be logical if you're talking about the same fluid that has been in use for the past 30 years. The newer fluid and sensors have reduced the need for replacement and increased the overall life of the fluid by reducing exposure to contamination from external elements.

I know there's some Toyota certified mech's out there so I'll try to quote this from what I heard first hand...the process established to check the fluid is really cumbersome now. You need to get the transmission to a certain temp range and get then check the overflow tube...I know, this is not complete but it does demonstrate that they have sealed the transmission from what would have been normal exposure to dirt and atmosphere...all leading reasons the fluid oxidize.

So, the service writer that I use (who BTW recently bought himself an 07 V6 Camry) told me that he would suggest a drain and refill at 100K miles...just to be on the safe side.
