Default 07 Camry transmission or Is it safe to buy a Camry now?

Hi, All

Please help me come to a decision on my new car selection. 07 Camry looks great as far as specs go, about the right combo of power, reasonable fuel mileage and comfort for me.
However, the stories about transmision problems bother me a lot.

So as of now (July 17, 07), is there enough good TSBs released to make sure that if I get a car with tranny problems it will be fixed right away?

i am considering a V6 with 6 speed.

Thanks a lot,
Yury

I'm not sure if it is fate or luck that I end up being the first to reply to this post....hmmmmmmmm.

I would not let the specter of a possible transmission issue to cloud my decision to buy or not buy. The current day transmissions appear to address the issue and in any case, if you do have a problem, you'll have a warranty to address them.

For the record, my "new" transmission is working just fine. I just came back from a road trip from LA to Pheonix and back. Average highway speed was 80 and the average MPG was JUST a fraction under the 30MPG mark.

There was one time that I really wanted to get around some jerk on the freeway so I snapped off the CRUISE and just hammered the gas pedal...OMG! Before I new it I was doing well over 100MPH and the car accel and handling was soooooooo smooth!

Have a I said lately that I LOVE this engine and tranny set-up?

Cruising along at 80MPH you're only turning 2300RPM!!!

Anyway...hope that helps.

Thank you

It's a very small percentage of '07 V6's that have the problem.
I never had a problem with my '07 V6.
I'd wait for the '08's that will be out in a month.
Any other issues that some owners may be having might be taken care of.
My only complaint is a bit interior crackling, especially in cold weather.
One thing I feel is Toyota quality is not as good as it was say 3-4 years ago.
Still better than most,tho.
