New TSB on 8/2/07 for allCamry I4's (auto and manual)
TSB EG036-07 replaces old EG056-06 which is now obsolete.
Recalibrates ECM (PCM) Engine and Transmission.
oooohh... I just took the wifes Camry to the dealer with the previous TSB in hand.
I hope they check the TSB records and find the new one.
I knew I should have logged in before I went to the dealer.
By the way I love the look on the Service Department guys when I hand them the TSB.
They have a look on their faces , like, How did you get this!?!?!?
haha Classic!!
I just got a new camry se...I've had it a week, took delivery of it on July 30, I have not experienced any aceleration delay....should I do the tsb anyway?
I have 500 miles on the car.

A couple of side notes (since I did not read text of this TSB - it is not yet available to many).
Formally speaking, most TSBs have a VIN number range to which each particular TSB applies. Thus, if your VIN is in the range, the TSB can be applied.
Informally speaking, I know guys, who did not have hesitation/delay problems, but, nevertheless, applied a TSB and hated how their car behaved after…

There is no VIN range on the TSB.
I had the previous TSB applied to mine even though I didn't have a hesitation problem. I noticed no diff. in any drivability after the TSB was applied.
When the ECU programming change gets incorporated in the 3 assembly plants, there will be a TSB revision with VIN's listed.

I am going to pick up the car tonight, so I'll tell you all if it helped.
To be honest I don't think it could hurt.
There was a delay or pause in acceleration when turning out into traffic.
You could see the RPMS move and the engine would rev, then a slight jerk after it would engage and accelerate
Whiplash effect.
AND
I also had them check the transmission drag I was experiencing.
When we would release the gas pedal at around 45-40 mile per hour there a drag and sluggish feeling.
Almost as if the brake is being slightly applied.
If we shift it to Neutral the car coasts just fine.
Once back into drive you could feel the pull and the car would slow down........
According to the service advisors the our Camry is not in the Sequence of TSB relating to this is issue
So only the TSB EG036-07 I4 ECM Calibration - 8/2/07 was done.
And I should expect this to correct the problems... (YEAH, well see!)
Really curious to hear how this TSB worked for you Sanchez. I experience the transmission "drag" you described exactly. If this TSB can fix that I'll be ecstatic. I have a June '07 manufacture date.
I have an additional problem where there is a transmission "drag" during breaking, or what I call engine braking. It's like the car is helping me brake, but at the last minute (5-10 mph) it upshifts and that "drag" disappears, causing the car to lurch forward and make me nauseous.
If this TSB can fix both of those problems I'll be super excited.

Well.......
The TSB did help a lot.!!
I noticed a smoother performance while the car is shifting.
However the "assisted braking" (as I call it) is still there.
Only, I feel that it is a slight bit less.
The immediate drag when I release the accelerator is not as harsh.
I would say that I am happier now- more importantly the wife is happy now...
This is her Camry and she drives it all the time... |
I am happy with my Sequoia.
She tells me that TSB did wonders.
So, if any of you feel that your Camry needs the TSB EG036-07 I4 ECM Calibration - 8/2/07 I would suggest that you have it done.
Hello, I justgot the car back from the dealer. I did not like the attitude of the test drive with the mechanic, of course I could not demonstrate, the problem you stated above, but you described it exactly.
Soooo, I demanded that they reflash the ECM and gave them a print out of this forum, they checked my VIN and it was on the list for a TSB
apparently the number TSB EG 036-07 is a catagory of different fixes and the actual flash module they hook up was number EG7031.
This had an immediatly noticable effect, wayyyyy better.
I think that when you test drive with the salesman and , or mechanic your driving style is different(more sedate).
Thank you very much for having this forum, as I found my answer here, by yahoo search engine.
I was very disapointed with the car before the fix, i told the service writter and mechanic that my 1998 camry with 280,000 miles ran better then my new 07 camry with 831 miles.

I just purchased a 2007 Camry LE AT (4cyl) on Saturday (August 25, 2007 ... manufactured 06/07.) The drive home was probably 20 miles and involved freeway access ... but ... the traffic was mild and did not push the car's possible limitations.
My driving needs are quite limited at the moment. I've been without daily access to a car for two years ... it will take me a while to work up to regular use of this vehicle.
However, I don't want a potential problem to not be addressed during this period of time. What type of "trial" do I need to put this vehicle through to determine if it has any problems that could be addressed before I become dependent on it's daily use?
I do not drive vehicles "hard" and I'm not sure that my normal driving habits would expose this particular problem. However, I don't want to find out unexpectedly that it has no "get up and go" when I need to be pushing it to the max.
Where can I find a copy of the new TSB, EG036-07 that I can read? I had the update performed on 08/14/07 but have not noticed any improvement in the hesitation and shifting problems. Thanks for your help!
Same here, i got a TSB done at Toyota of glendale. First off they didn't know what the heck i was talking about. Until i showed them a printout from this forum. Then the service manager came out and he said we heard about it but theres no TSB on it. And i was like what the heck!! So he said what were going to do it update your ECM. So after i got my car back, i noticed no difference delayed acceleration is still there. Im running out of hopes.
