Default Is Camry 3.5 V6 Transmissions Now Fixed

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you have any insight if Toyota has rectified the shift flare that is plaguing their V6 transmissions. I have read many posts in edmunds.com & other forums where there seems to be many people trying to fix this - many transmissions have been replaced. It sounds like the snap ring issue has been rectified, but wonder if there are still issues with later '07 & '08 Camry's with the 3.5 V6 transmission.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I would like to purchase one, but am concerned that there are still issues to this date.

Thank you for your time.

WHile I would like to consider myself the unofficial "resident" subject matter expert on this matter, the reality of the situation is that I can't.

I do have the dubious "honor" of having one of the fist replacement tranny's in CA and can honestly say that I have not had a problem since it was replaced. No flares, slippage...nothing but power to the OEM tires.

I have been in (somewhat) close contact with a number of sources and a previous posting from me indicated that Toyota is still monitoring the situation but the replacement P/N and kit has not (yet) changed.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...if you're having a problem...get it into the dealer ASAP and get the issue documented.

For the record, I have almost 30K miles on my "new" tranny and like I said before...no problems.

I am a shop foreman at a dealership, and a Master Toyota Tech. We have not had any tranny problems in quite a while. We put about 3 or 4 in when they first came out. We haven't put one in at least 8-9 months.
