CamryGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry.
This is a discussion thread titled "Where are camerys assembled", within the Camry forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
Mostly Kentucky. Just look at the VIN when in doubt. If it starts with J and the 11th digit is a number 0-9 then it was Japan. A VIN beginning with a 4 and an 11th digit of U would indicate a TMMK build.
If you're shopping for a Camry built in Japan for quality reasons don't bother. The history for build quality for vehicles built in Japan or North America is too close to call. Our 03 Camry was built in Japan and the fit/finish and Technical Service Bulletin list is almost the same as 03 Camry's built in Kentucky (in that time frame). The idea that the ones built in Japan are better than the domestic ones isn't backed up by statistics.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????

BS!!!
The ratttles and fits of my neighbors 2007 US Camry are driving him crazy. My Japanese 2007 has had no noises and no problems for 21 months and 23,000 miles.
Those are my statistics...............

If you chilll out a little I was just saying what my experience was and has been. I will continue to say there is no silver bullet for where they're made. See I was able to respond without brilliant color and bold print.
