They were not aware of this problem with the Camry .
So I would say start calling Toyota in Torrance on their 800 # .
What a load of crap.

This thread is about the I4 5 speed, not V6 or V8's.

and this is a programming problem, not an engine or transmission problem.

The toyota trans does shift into 5th gear early which is a high gear I always leave my trans in 4th gear or out of overdrive in town due to the high gearing. I some times will forget for a few seconds when I jump on the freeway and look down at the speedo and see the over drive light on and just hit the button on the transmission shifter and go back to 5th gear.It might seem like a bit of trouble doing all this but it help the engine not to be lugged down which is not good for any engine. HOPE THIS HELPS

I took my 08 camry into the dealer. The service dept. mgr is a good friend of mine. I explained the vibration that has happened between 35-40 mph. He called the district service dude up and Toyota is aware of this problem. He said they are working on a reflash that would stop this issue. Yes, we have to have patience. They have to get all there reflashes approved by the U.S. government because of EPA type of things. I mite add that mine hardly ever does it and when it does I just give it a little more gas and it down shifts a goes away. It is a torque converter lock up thing. My car has a case # on this problem and I will get notified as soon as the reflash comes available. I had the service mgr. ask the district dude if this was causing undo ware on the tranny and he said no. I will keep you all posted as soon as I here anything.

Here is an update. My service mgr. called me today and said the new ecm update has been released to cure this problem. My appointment is Thursday to have mine reprogrammed. I will let all know what I find with the new reprogram.

The reflash took care of all the vibrations I had. It seemed to take care of the problem.

When I joined this august body...one of the reasons was so that I could have access to the TSB's. I know that this site had then available for viewing at one point but then they seem to have disappeared.

I've asked the question to the Admin but never received a reply...I'll ask this group.

WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU FINDING THE TSB's?

Thanks

https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/

You can join for a day, month or year, I think.

For $10, you get 24+ hours (until midnight the following night) of access to download TSBs, service manuals, etc. on all Toyota, Scion or Lexus models.
