Cool rear speaker removal

getting the rear speakers out of a 95 camry seems hard. I want to put in a pair of pioneer 6x9s. I wish the top plates would just snap off and allow me to do this simple thing, somehow I get the impression they aren't going to do that though, Anyone care to comment?

thanks for the photos and post on the speaker, it will surely help but I will need more before I try it, it is my mom's car so, it's just something I'd like to do. factory speakers are pretty limited.

WOW..........I'm looking to do the same but mine is still under warranty, i don't know if i should proceed. It looks like a lot of work to remove those rear speakers. Your pretty much stripping the rear, like a race car. I think I'm just gonna live with the factory set-up.
