Default 08 4cyl Automatic MPG

Since the EPA changed how they rate MPG it is so hard to tell what the real deal is. What are people who have the 4cyl Auto getting for mileage?

Don't really care what EPA says, before or now.

22 month, 24,000 miles avg. of 27.06 mpg. with ~50% city/50% hwy.

Best tank mpg - 33.14. Worst tank mpg - 22.71.

Winter driving is 1.5-2.0 mpg less than summer.

If I drove 50-55 mph, all hwy driving, I can do 36+ mpg easily based on a corrected fuel usage meter (it reads 1.6 mpg higher than actual).

35-36 psig in my tires.

I'm satisifed.

Our 2008 gets 26-28mpg mixed driving with majority interstate at 70mph.

Our previous 2004 model got 30-34mpg easily. I have to wonder if different tires will help. I seem to remember our 2004 improving dramatically once we got those Goodyear oem tires off there.

Does it take a break in period or something before you see the good fuel economy? Just got an 08 SE I4 and I really hope to get 25 Average in town and hwy.

After 24,000 miles I might get 0.1 mpg better than the first 2 tanks.

Just finished off my first full tank and went 382 miles. This is only like 20.6 MPG. I don't excellerate hard at all. Car is a brand new 08 SE 4Cyl Auto. Any suggestions as to why my MPG's is so low? I really expect to get at least an ave of 25 MPG or better.

First tankful I got 428 miles. Calculated out to 26 mpg and this was a combo of city and hwy driving with an avg speed of 70 mph. The next fill up should be better, since I don't plan to do anything more then 70mph. I vary the speed from 65-70 mph and not stay on 70 for too long, inorder for proper engine break in or ring seating. I'll do that for 1100 miles and then drive like a normal person as stated in the manual.

The break in period on the camry as per the manual is 1100 miles, so no hard acceleration from a stop and no constant sitting at one speed. So vary the speed and accelerate slowly.

You used 18.54 gallons???? NO WAY!!!!!

1/2 the forum posters don't even know how to calculate gas mileage and with the intial fill and final fillup level variables, one tank does not mean anything.

and its accelerate and avg. by the way........

Njerald that is the weakest crap I have seen on a camry. I'm talking about the Lexus emblem on the trunk. Why don't you just buy a Lexus? You are a faker, also, your camry is probably not made in japan. Dream on!

Life can be a learning experience...........or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must figure your gas mileage "by the way" also.

Sorry, life's tough.

how are you calculating that? that is about how many miles i did on my first tank and i calculated it to be about 26mpg... you need to divide your mileage by the gallons you put into your gas tank not what full tank capacity is

i get about 27-29mpg now and i just bought my car about 3 weeks ago

I just figured if the tank is full and thats 18.5 gallons then whatever miles you get till on the empty line will be what you divide with to get your actual miles per gallon.
