Unhappy 95 Camry Drivers Dorr lock

Hi, I am new to this forum, I was wondering if any of you folks have had the drivers door lock not work. On my Camry the door lock will not release and allow the interior and exterior handles to open the door. I have been told that it is a broken lock and it will need to be replaced.
My question is: is there a way to open the door to allow the removal of the door panel for the repair with out tearing it up? I have gone to the local u-pull it to tear a door apart and found a "release" tab that if I could access it will allow the opening of the door. Can anyone help in this rather unpleasent situation?

Default Re: 95 Camry Drivers Dorr lock

I just saw your question. I had a similar problem and pulled the felt guide off around the window (where the window goes back into the door). I then used a hangar to flip the latch. To replace the lock, I followed the directions from DIY ...
