Default Homelink in 2008 Camry SE

I just purchased a 2008 Camry SE and Homelink was not installed. Is it possible to add Homelink? I know that the XLE with Homelinke has it installed in the overhead console right next to the sunroof controls.

Does your SE have a moonroof?

Well, you could have gotten it for $220 if you had bought it originally and got the self dimming mirror thrown in.

Now if you get the part from the dealer it's going to cost you plus awhile to install. See here:

Auto Parts People

Pt # 63650-06090-color code

You may find one the right color out of an XLE in the wrecking yard or on ebay once in awhile.

Should be a snap in replacement. You will need to tie into a dome light 12V source for power for the Homelink.

I didn't know I could've added it prior to taking delivery of the car.

Will the part from Auto Parts People fit in the 2008? I notice that it's coded for the 2007.

The majority of car buyers buy w/o knowing much.

Did you ever look at a Camry brochure or on Toyota.com?????

I did look at the brochure. I was under the impression that the packages had to be installed at the factory prior to delivery to the dealership. I did not think that the dealership could installed "packages".

The part number helped a lot. I just called Longo Toyota and they said that they can order it, however, they can not install it. Any one know where I could get this installed?

Yes, packages have to installed at the factory or port.

The point is to buy the car with the equipment that you want, not the one the salesman points to.

Don't know about who would install. should take 15-20 minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I bought the car I wanted. Unfortunately, I bought the car at a dealership that deals on quantity. Longo purchases vehicles on what is "popular" for that model and trim. Unfortunately, because the "Sports Convenience Package" is consider an optional package, and most people that want the Homelink and Auto Dimming Mirror/Compass purchase the XLE, there were no 2008 SE trims with that package.

In addition, since the 2008 models were being "phased out" (the 2009's were already on the lot) they had the "special" (2.9 - 4.9 APR or $1000.00 Cash Back), there weren't too many to choose from.
