Default Gas Cap/check engine light

After 85,000 absolutely trouble free mi on Camry.Check engine light came on.I dont have scanner so reading posts here most common cause was cap loose.Mine wasnt but filler neck was so rusted/corroded that it couldnt seal.Take a look at yours.I think the crummy gas we have causes this.

What I did was take some good duct tape and seal it off inside tube then I used sandpaper and a wire brush to clean of the rust.Used a vacuum cleaner to suck out the crud.Put a bit of grease on it and hasnt happened again.Hope this helps someone and others maybe putting a bit of grease on the filler neck where cap seals would prevent this.In the least it should stop that corrosion from falling into you tank everytime you remove gas cap.

Sure am happy with this car.See 200,000 or more easily all at over 30mpg.
