Default 2007 v6 camry

What does the oil filter look like? I went to Napa today and they gave me an element looking thing. Not a normal looking spin on filter. Does anybody know the number for Napa oil filter for the 2007 v6 Camry. The element thingy looked like the internals for an oil filter. I never read a post of this nature in this forum. I think they gave me the wrong filter???? Thanks

Cool brand of filter preference?

I noticed not every manufacturer makes this filter.

Do any of you guys have a brand preference or is it less important because of that cartridge design?

Why worry about it?

Use Toyota elements @ less than $4/ea delivered?

Talking thanks for the response, but

I'm a block away from an Advance store and I don't need 10 [thats an unecessary 50k mi commitment for me]

I just wanted to pick up a Pure-One or Fram and I'm not thrilled with giving Toyota one more red cent...

not really worried but I heard negative feedback on the Frams....

also 2 more things if anyone is still reading -

1)what do you guys think of Castrol Syntec [it just went on sale at Autozone]
2)I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times but, does the oil change warning light on the dash reset itself or do I have to do some thing special?

...in the order you asked;
1) I have no absolute information about THAT PARTICULAR Fram oil filter element but I do have some very interesting information about other related elements. Take a look at; Engine Oil Filters

2) The question of which oil is better or worse will likely spark a debate not unlike what is going on in the mideast today. So long as your oil has the proper API rating...you're likely just fine. Granted, all oils have slightly different chemical compositions so now you start to drift into the marketing fluff from each manufacturer. I suggest you spend a few minutes and review the following; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_oil and All About Motor Oil (with the second link...pay special attention to the info at the bottom of the page).

3) NO...the light wil not reset itself but you can reset it manually (RTFM).

Thumbs up yeah thanks and one last thing....

I just got the $20 oil change at the dealer but I want to dump their oil and throw some royal purple in.

The filter is new. It only has like 500 mile on it. Is there any problem with just dumping the dealers oil without changing the filter? They probably used dino oil and I want to use a full syn

anyone have an opiinion on this?

[btw - I looked in the manual ...nuthin bout this situation ]

You won't have a full synthetic leaving the dealers oil in the oil filter.

Of course there is nothing in the manual about your particular situation.

Dump the oil in the filter or wait forythe next oil change.

Thumbs up thanks

yeah, I guess I could just pop the cap on the oil housing and drain it but I didnt think the small amount of oil in there would affect performance of the other 6+ quarts......

If you're "converting" over to full synth...don't forget that the engine will already have .5+ qt. still in the engine...no matter how long you drain it.

Your first oil change will always have some dino-juice still in it...

So long as they are API rated oils, you should have no problems.

OK...keep something big in mind here...so long as your car is under warranty...you'll NOT be able to take advantage of the extended drain intervals that a full synth product would offer you.

(before you ask...I have used Mobil 1 for 10+ years and I'll likely not switch back to conventional)

Talking Thanks Bolo

and thanks again for that avalon PDF.

[I think that thing saved many a Sunday for a lot of us]

But about the warranty and the oil -- if I still had receipts for intervals of, say 5000 mi, do you think that would satisfy the warranty requirements?

and BTW - I plan on adding exactly 6 qts of Royal Purple. According to the manual, there should be exactly .4 qts in the filter housing which should bring the total volume to spec -- 6.4 qts. Like I said before, I dont believe the .4 qt of the dealers oil will have any measurable effect on performance.....

Thanks, again

You haven't hurt anything just leave the oil till the next oil change next time try a mobil one high performace filter there are $10,00 or try an ams oil filter about the same price. These two are about as good as it get when it comes to oil filters. They say Ams oil filters are best??? You can order the filters directly from Ams oil just go to their web site!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS YOU WITH YOU PROBLEM. By the way royal purple and ams oil and redline and eos and mobil one are the best synthetics the way I line them up. In 1990 Mobil oil took 5 BMW's and put them on rollers for 4 years and put a million miles on each engine and when done and tore the engines they still looked new inside very little wear if any. That is why Mercedes porche BMW corvette and all high priced sport cars use mobil one to make them last. Royal purple Ams oil and redline are the tops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah!

Take a look at this: Videos

Choose the PRODUCT PERFORMANCE box on the right side of the video player and then select MOBIL 1 FIELD TEST.

THIS is why I use synth oil!!!
