Re: Check Engine Light with no code? 95 V6
Is the '95 V6 an OBD I or OBD II ? If it's OBD I, I don't believe AZ does OBD II, just OBD II. I don't know about your tools.
I found this some time back. HTH
Check engine light code retrieval w/o tool
First find the test/diagnosis connector either at the bottom of the dashboard on the drivers side or in the engine compartment. It may have a cover on it with "diagnosis or test" printed on it.
Step 1) Make sure your battery measures 12 volts at the connections / the throttle is closed / the transmission is in neutral (apply the parking brake)/ and the engine is at operating temperature and off.
Step 2) On the "test" plug, jumper terminal TE1 and E1 together with a piece of wire. There should be a label on the plug cover indicating which terminal is which. Make sure you find the correct terminals.
Step 3) Do step 3 and 4 at the same time - Turn the ignition to the "ON" position. Do not start the engine.
Step 4) Watch your "Check Engine" light and count the number of flashes and pauses between flashes you see. This count you see is the malfunction code stored in the computer.
Example: 2 flashes, pause,1 flash is code 21 and indicates the oxygen sensor or the circuit to it is shorted.
Continuous flash with a 1/4 second delay between flashes means no malfunctions detected.
If you have more than one code stored there will be a longer pause between the flash sequences.
